Open-Thread Thursday; More Sales; Question of the Week

By Voxy

Four letters welcome us by Brett L..Hey, hey, it’s Open Thread Thursday! What’s on your mind, beauty-wise?

More sales! Murad is having their first-ever Friends and Family sale, and it’s the usual 20% off. Now through Nov. 8. Enter code FF2009 at checkout. Also, Laura Mercier is offering free shipping through Nov. 30; no checkout code needed.

(By the way, there won’t always be this many sales. I smell holidays!)

My question for you this week:

If price were no object, what would you be buying in the skincare/makeup department?

Me: I’m embarrassed to say it, but… Creme de la Mer. I know I’m not supposed to love it, but when I sampled it at Nordstrom’s I thought I had died and gone to skincare heaven. Because I accidentally scooped up more than I could reasonably apply to my face, neck and hands (you need very, very little), I ended up with the world’s softest and most luxurious feet.

That might be doable! Let me dig some of them out and see what I can do.

Fortunately (?) I never throw anything away.

Well, if money truly were no object, I’m ashamed to admit that I would seriously consider getting a little light plastic surgery. Never thought I’d say it, but hey, getting saggy sucks more than I realized.

If money were only slightly less an object, I’d find a nice spa where I could get regular massages, facials, body wraps, etc. This would actually be my ideal: I think I could put up with a hell of a lot of stress if I had some weekly pampering. Sadly, I don’t have a sugar daddy and am never going to make that kind of money.

Anyway, those fantasies don’t answer the question about skincare and makeup purchases. It’s been eons since I tried anything new, so if I had the dosh, I’d head to some schmancy mall (you know the one) and hit every single beauty-related store, including the department store counters, and get makeovers and samples till I keeled over. Then I’d pick the best products from every line, without worrying about price.

However, I do blame you for the fact that I recently purchased a Murad skin care trial set from Sephora, and some of that Korres stuff. Both are winging their way here right this minute.

Heh heh heh. BTW, I will be going to the Sephora VIB “shopping event,” where I will get 20% off, so if there is anything you want, let me know and I’ll pick it up for you.

(That goes for the rest of you too.)

I would consider Botox, for sure.

I would go the professional services route and get treatment for acne scarring.

What kind are you thinking of? That’s a laser treatment, right?

Yep, although I think they call it “pulsed light” rather than laser. I’ve actually done that for hair removal on my chin and was very happy with the results. When I get to the point where my house doesn’t want as much money for projects, I’ll probably go for the treatment.

I would be trying out every skin cream known to man. The nice ones are so spendy, and I have several pots at home of stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time and turned out to smell horrid, or make my face greasy, or any other number of issues.

I’d buy up all the most expensive, luxurious ones and try them out. *sigh*
