Monday Mix: Good News for the Time-Challenged, and SALES

By Voxy

Whoa! Who got rousted out of bed for a candid “before” photo at 3 am?

Whaddya mean, that’s an “after” photo?

Yep, it’s true. The photo at left represents a new “look” (I use the quotes because otherwise you might not really believe they’re proposing this as an organized and thought-out approach to makeup) by the fine folks at NARS for the Thakoon Panichgul show at NY Fashion Week. I describe the look as “raggedy-hair, unwashed, puffy-eyed, and sullen,” but NARS lead makeup artist Diane Kendal calls it “fresh, beautiful, luminous, and quite confident.” Um, OK.

I do not predict great sales success for this so-called “look.” But what do I know? I’m a cynic.

HauteLook has LORAC cosmetics on Wednesday; sale begins at 11 am Eastern/8 am Pacific.

There is a scandalously good sale going on at Tarte: code ECSURVEY gets you 50% off everything (!) plus a free Double Dose Berry Boost and Gloss lip gloss that shows up automatically in your cart. I don’t have an end date for this one, and unfortunately some of their more popular products are out of stock at the moment. Still, if you’re looking to pick up a cheek stain for half off, it’s a great deal. Free shipping with a $40 purchase.

Previously announced sales still in progress:

BeautyTicket: 20% off through 2/28 with code INSTYLE20 • TheCosmeticMarket: 20% off through 2/28 with code ALLURE

What I see in this snapshot is two different eye looks. To say puffy is one thing but it looks to me like she was socked by someone.

I really thought that was the idea of the look which I thought was in v. poor taste. It made me think of the singer who was punched by her boyfriend last year and blog posts and comments by teenage girls were shocking people with the excuses they were giving the boyfriend. Rhianna was the singer maybe?

If the idea is just that she’s to look a little tired, that’s far better than making abused, blackeye-from-her-man cool.

And I just spent two weeks perfecting my undereye concealer application! Turns out all I needed to do was get 3 hours of sleep, apply skin-toned lipstick and forget to brush my hair.

Except for the lipstick, that describes my graduate school look. Lab rat as fashionista, who knew?

See? We are all models. I think, though, that you are still going to have to wear stilettos under that lab coat. ;)

Do I get to feel good about myself now because I can look like that without the help of makeup? (hee)

I see absolutely no reason why not. In fact, I think we should all go to NYC and storm the runway. ;)

    Does she ever look awful.
Since grunge in the ’90’s, models have looked miserable.
