Love the site! Thanks for speaking to those of us in academia who like a little lip gloss…and eye shadow…and mascara…and blush…
PS – I heart Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Tone Correcting tinted moisturizer for day, as well as Aveeno Positively Radiant tinted moisturizer. Both are SPF 30 and don’t make me break out. Oh, and NYX tinted eyeshadow base is great all around the eye (for concealer, too). Yay makeup!

Welcome! Things have been a bit slow over the last year, as school has been kicking my foxalicious behind just a little bit, but don’t worry, the blog isn’t going to vanish and more regular posts should be resuming shortly. Having new readers is always a good incentive!!
I have heard good things about that NYX eyeshadow base and am going to have to try it, I think! Thanks for the recommendation.

Wow, just found you from a comment you made on Amanda Krauss’s Plato and WNTW post. Where have you been all my life? My site, business and blog are dedicated to helping junior academics find work and get tenure. I post regularly on dress and makeup. I’ll be linking here from now on. (and just did an update about you on my FB page). Keep up the good work! You are needed.

Aw, shucks! Thanks for the nice words. I have fallen off the blogging wagon a little bit (OK, a lot) this last year, but it’s an important year for me in my academic career (ahem) and my attention has been on that. The blog is not going anywhere, though, and I have a stack of products all photographed and swatched and just waiting to be reviewed!
And I love Amanda’s stuff! There should be more of us. I will definitely come and check out your site!

Hi Foxy…or Voxy, as the case may be. Thanks for dropping by my site. I literally can’t believe a site like yours exists — I wish I’d known about it before I left. One of my best friends and I had a saying, that you could be smart about makeup and about ancient literature. And Sephora makes me happier than most academic things ever did. Anyway, great site, and I’ll try to stop by more often!

PS So glad you’re a thirtysomething, sick of makeup advice for twentysomethings. As if they need it…

Hi Donna,
Your line looks interesting! I’d be happy to sample an item or two. I never promise reviews, though of course if there are products that impress me I will want to share them with readers.
Can you drop me an email at voxy at foxyvoxy dot com and we can make arrangements? Thanks!

Hi Voxy, made me smile as I read your Brains meets Beauty column.
I have the same topic as you, with an emphasis on organic skin care.
Still – I have to write the same on my blog.
Spread the word :-)

Hi,
I’ve been a long-time Chronicle lurker and followed your comments/advice there. Thank you for following through and creating a blog!
One product I like much better than Clarins Lotus Oil, which I find dries me out if I have to use for more than two days, is Ella Bache Creme Intex #2 (http://www.ellabache.com.au/skin-care-classic/treatment-cream-skin/default.asp). It has one significant drawback, but the results are worth it.

Yay! Welcome, and thanks for getting in touch! And that product sounds very interesting. I have heard surprisingly good things about cod liver oil for skincare.
What’s the one drawback? (Does it have to do with Australia? ;) )

I’m sorry for the delayed answer but the problem is the odor. The package says you can wear this during the day but I’m uncomfortable leavning my house smelling like fish oil (dead fish?).

I got my Too Faced Shadow Insurance on Saturday and am happy to report it definitely works! I applied it to just my right eye one day; by late afternoon, the darker shadow I use in my eye crease had gooped up on the left eye but not my right. I then tried it on my left eye and went without on my right; I fogot all about it until washing my face right before bed when I noticed my left eye had significantly more shadow on it. The shadow doesn’t stay pristine, but it definitely hangs around much longer. Thanks!

Sounds good. I can start a draft of it.

Hi,
Wrote a review about Laura Mercier Stickgloss.
Also have an idea for a blogpost: Gone and Lamented, or Gone but not Forgotten. Invite readers to share what they miss, maybe manufacturers will bring back some great products. I am thinking of Le Grand Curl WaterProof among others here! Have at least 4 other products to lament.

Please, share what you like! I think a Gone But Not Forgotten post would be a great idea around New Year’s (“should auld acquaintance be forgot…” etc. — we can do old products not forgotten and also exciting new ones. What do you think about that?
